Conference Relationships
Work Area Responsiblities
The General Council on Ministries (GCOM) has
assigned the following responsibilities to the
Conference Relationships Work Area (CRWA). The
paragraph citations are form the Book of Discipline,
2000.
Resourcing and Communicating with Annual Conferences

To
relate to annual conferences, their councils
on ministries, or other corresponding structures.

provide resources to annual conferences related

To
enhance two-way communication with annual
conferences (&906.8b) |

To
assist the conference councils in developing
comprehensive approaches to planning, research,

To
inform conference councils of significant
issues identified through the monitoring of
trends in the world and the Church (&906.8d) |

To
devise and implement measures to assure full,
effective representation and participation
of central conference members in the work
of The United Methodist Church (&906.19) |

Planning and Research
| • |
To
give leadership to and participate in planning
and research for The United Methodist Church,
thereby helping all levels of the Church to
evaluate needs, set goals, and plan strategy;
to coordinate planning and research for the
denomination in cooperation with the general
program agencies of The United Methodist Church;
and to maintain a list of research and planning
documents received from the general program
agencies and the annual conferences (&906.17) |

Planning Joint Training Events to Train Annual
Conference Leaders
Planning DS/DCM Training Event

To
provide for the training of the annual conference
council on ministries directors or equivalent,
to provide jointly with the General Board
of Higher Education and Ministry and the Council
of Bishops the training of district superintendents,
and to consult with the Central Conferences
concerning comparable training sessions. |
